Classification and Origin

Category: földrajzi jelzéssel ellátott regionális zöld tea.

körülbelül az északi szélesség 35. foka — Kína egyik legészakibb kereskedelmi teatermesztő övezete; a teabokrok jelentősen északabbra nőnek a Jangcétól délre húzódó hagyományos „teaövtől”.

a hagyomány Rizhaót szokás a világ „három nagy parti teaövezete” közé sorolni a hasonló szélességen — a japán Shizuoka és a koreai Boseong mellett. Ez az összehasonlítás inkább reklám, mint szigorúan tudományos jellegű, de pontosan visszaadja a lényeget: a tea hűvös, tengerparti éghajlaton, hideg téllel terem.
