分類與產地
六堡茶是黑茶 (hēichá, 黑茶)，產自梧州（梧州）下轄蒼梧（苍梧）的六堡（六堡）山鎮及鄰近區域。
類型: 廣西東部；與所有六堡茶的產區相同。
植物學與原料
並非細嫩茶芽，而是最粗老、成熟且廉價的葉片 — 加工過的老葉（老叶, lǎo yè）。
沒有特定的栽培種；使用的是與其他六堡茶相同的在地品種類型 — 廣西大葉及中葉的群體種變異（大中叶），能提供寬大、厚實且傾向於深層發酵的葉片。
