Classification and Origin
Category: sub-type of Sichuan Hei Cha; border tea (边销茶) of the Ya'an tradition of 南路边茶 (nán lù biān chá).
from its "dark tea axis" relatives — pǔ'ěr (熟, shu) and Hunan/Shaanxi 茯砖 (fú zhuān) — 金尖 is distinguished by its own technological school and orientation towards the Tibetan market.
Origin: Ya'an city (雅安, Yǎ'ān) in the western Sichuan Basin, at the foot of mountains transitioning to the Tibetan Plateau; counties around Mengding (蒙顶, Méng dǐng).
Type: dark tea (黑茶, hēi chá).
